The first session of the journal club "New Findings in Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Operating Room Work with an Interdisciplinary and Interprofessional Approach" was held with the participation of faculty members, staff, and students from various medical fields at the School of Paramedicine, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. The session focused on “Explaining the Interdisciplinary and Interprofessional Educational-Research Journal Club and its Implementation Method”. The explanation of how the journal club sessions would be conducted was provided by Mr. Ali Sadeghi Varzaghan, a faculty member of the Anesthesia Department at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. In this session, the following topics were discussed
* What interdisciplinary and interprofessional work entails and its importance in national and international educational, therapeutic, and research policies
* The effects of a lack of teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration on achieving therapeutic goals and the necessity of preventing it.
* Defining anesthesia, surgery, and critical care processes as prominent examples of areas that directly and indirectly require interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration among various clinical, diagnostic, paraclinical, care, health, pharmaceutical, rehabilitation, support, and other specialized professions. Without teamwork, the efficiency of healthcare services could decrease, clinical errors might rise, and even patient safety could be jeopardized
* The importance of reviewing recent research conducted across different professions that directly or indirectly impact anesthesia performance, specialized care, and work in the operating room
* The positive and effective impact of holding journal clubs on education and learning "new findings derived from impactful research," enhancing critical thinking and active learning through critical perspectives formed during the sessions, creating a suitable platform for discovering new research ideas to address limitations and shortcomings in the reviewed articles, increasing the attendees' understanding of biostatistics and vital statistics, familiarizing with the epidemiology of the discussed disorders, and ultimately improving clinical decision-making skills based on research evidence
 
Mr. Ali Sadeghi Varzaghan also highlighted the roles of individuals involved in organizing the journal club, including the mentor (facilitator of collective understanding of the session's topic), presenter (the person who presents the selected article to the attendees), evaluator (the person who critiques and reviews the quality of the selected article using specialized checklists for published articles), manager (the person who reviews submitted articles for alignment with session objectives and quality, and organizes the session accordingly), session recorder (the person responsible for recording the minutes and attendees), and the executive team (those responsible for the proper and efficient organization of the session)

At the end of the session, the process for faculty members, staff, and interested students to participate and present articles in future sessions and obtain certificates was explained. The following communication channels were provided for further engagement. The dates of the upcoming journal club sessions, along with the approved articles, will be announced via the School of Paramedicine's website and virtual platforms
